Apartment Review from a Current Renter

The apartments are dated and since I've been here there has been a flood that has damaged a floor or two of apartments. My boyfriend and I cut our rent in half moving here and you get what you pay for.
Thank you for your feedback it assist us with improving our services. It is unfortunate that an isolated matter occurred while conducted improvements to our building. All was restored immediately. With the new renovation of our common area I am happy to inform you that we do offer newly renovated apartments as well. Windows are very drafty, leak whith heavy rains. The draft causes increased utility bills.

Not sure how I forgot to mention the heating/cooling issue. Nothing like getting a $400 bill a month after moving into your new Park Bethesda apartment of only 700 square feet. {sigh}

I would recommend because of location. I would not recommend for several reasons:
1. extra charge for parking- there's not even a garage, totally inappropriate
2. Very inefficient windows (very hot during summer, very cold during winter)
3. Thermostats installed 6 to 8 months ago are anything but an improvement, certainly not convenient, and their poor operation is inexcusable. They're counterproductive, frequently unresponsive, and more often than not, do NOT do what I want them to. There's no way to set them to either heat only or cool only. Imagine one cool summer night when I had the temp set to 78 degrees only to find the *heat* on in the morning!! All because the temp outside dipped lower that night and the apt cooled down. Do you really think I wanted the heat on? In the middle of SUMMER? Get rid of them, they should be replaced.

I'd feel comfortable recommending PB, but I do feel the year-to-year rent increases have been excessive; that's my only concern. I know many tenants are unhappy with the electric bills and I can understand this for those who don't receive much sun but over the years I have been able to manage my utility use so my bills are generally reasonable and I think many others could do the same. I also have a sunny southern exposure which helps me manage my bills, so I have that advantage.

You can't beat the location or the front desk staff.

I expect less from the apartment and management than I did when we moved in 11 months ago. While replacing the sub-par windows would be a fairly expensive capital improvement, other issues could be addressed, e.g., the .75 inch gap between the door and the door frame on all sides. It's amazing to run the heat/ac on a normal setting, i.e., not too hot or cold, and still pay anywhere between $250-400 per month. Adjusting for the relative cost of electricity, that's almost three times what we paid in a larger apartment in New Orleans and twice what it costs to run the same amount of electricity on the townhome we rent out in Charlotte, which is twice the size of this apartment. The windows are truly horrible.

It is a nice place to live with great access to trails, schools, walkability to grocery stores, metro, etc. The rent is very reasonable for this area (as of now) with fairly nice kitchens and apartment amenities.

Older community with many upgrades. Plenty of outdoor parking. Spacious apartments each with a large balcony. Upgraded kitchens with plenty of natural light. Washer and dryer in the apartments.

The proximity and location of the community makes it a very desirable address. I was not provided with enough information, from the leasing agent to make an informative decision. Other than the apartment and the fitness center, I was not escorted to any additional amenities to set the community apart from neighboring communities.

I like the management and the space. The location and the space is much better than a lot of places I have seen before.
I am worried now about Pepco bills and the malfunction of the thermostat and the quality of the cooling system (so loud) and most of my friends would agree.

You have an ace in the hole here with this manager. I wouldn't be surprised if she did training for other agents. The H/VAC systems were mounted low which took up floor space. Mounting them higher would be better for the clients space to put their furniture. Besides that everything else was good....

My tour did not focus on many facilities of the community. I was told of the controlled access, 24 hour concierge and weekday shuttle to the Metro Station.
