Reviews

A convenient location and a fair price

This apartment complex is no longer part of the Haven group, as it was recently sold to Chartwell, but the staff has remained. There was a major fire at one of the Haven communities here, and I suspect this is a major reason for the sale, to raise cash.

Overall, these apartments are in really good condition. They have recently made significant changes to the landscaping on the entry, limbing and removing trees and adding more plants and grass. They recently replaced the shingles on the roofs of one whole section of the complex, and are now repainting exterior areas that have been sorely in need of repainting.

There is ample parking, although not necessarily where you want to park. Around the entry ways, parking is at a premium starting around 7 PM. There is plenty of parking within walking distance of your apartment, it just might not be as close as you would like on a rainy day.

The apartments are fairly roomy. There is a ceiling fan in each living room, and most rooms have overhead lights controlled at a switch. Heating and air is central. You pay separately for trash and water, this is not included in your rent so be aware when getting a quote. Kitchen comes with a dishwasher and trash compactor, and there are washer and dryer hookups (the complex also has two laundry facilities to accommodate a total of 8 loads). Bedroom closets are walk-in with plenty of space. They will let you put a satellite on your deck/balcony in place of cable if you choose. Each apartment has a deck/balcony, and has an outside storage area that can be locked. If you live upstairs, it is almost impossible for anyone to get on your balcony without a ladder.

For kids, there are three pools, nothing special or different about them, just in different areas of the complex. They are open when the season is warm. There is a fitness center, but is very limited in its equipment, better than most hotels for sure. There is a playground for small children, but there are no other options, no walking paths, no basketball or tennis court, so this is not the best place for tweens or teenagers.

The staff is very friendly and helpful. Any service requests have been handled quickly. There is still much to do with landscaping, mainly because of the number of trees and the amount of shade, making it tough for grass to grow. They do have a recycling area, but the company that volunteers the recycling bin doesn't always come often enough, making it a challenge to recycle. There are two trash areas, two mail areas.

All in all, this is a good value for the price paid. You can walk to Bi-Lo for groceries if you wanted to, and there are three restaurants (Chinese, Italian, Mexican) plus a Hardees and Burger King accessible as well. There is also a CVS next to Bi-Lo and Walgreen's across from it. If you are looking for a convenient location to get to Greenville, Columbia, Charlotte or Asheville from Spartanburg, this is a good place to consider. If you are looking for a place for your middle school kids to live, I'd look for a place with a bit more to do, unless all they like to do is swim.
