Don't Rent Here

They do not respond to maintenance issues in a timely manner. We have been without both ac and heat for extended period of times. Our ac has been out a total of 4 times and all they continue to do is fill the coolant and not fix the leaks. They are polite to you but never fix the issues.

Older apartments with a lot of problems

The first day we moved in there was never a first walk of our apartment. When we saw our apartment for the first time we were greeted by at least five dead cockroaches and it was instantly clear a smoker resided in the apartment prior to us. It was all too evident that the apartment hadn't been cleaned thoroughly -- if at all -- by anyone prior to us moving in. We didn't appreciate that at all.
Despite that, the apartment was affordable and we did recommend it to a friend who moved in a month after us (in November). We were told when they moved in that in order to receive a discount off our rent for our referral, we had to be residents for three months. So in January, three months after we moved into the apartment, when we contacted the office about the referral, we were told the company was sold and that was no longer and option, but if we wanted a free carpet cleaning that could be arranged. Despite our disappointment, we were very understanding and agreed to that, but on the day someone was scheduled to clean our carpets they never came. We didn't bother following up on the issue again because at that point we gave up and just let it go. It wasn't worth the continued effort and waste of our time.
In the past year, we've had to call the office on multiple occasions for maintenance requests and the office staff have been very kind and pleasant and we appreciate that. However, despite multiple calls about our air conditioning unit, it's never been fully fixed. At least three requests to repair it were placed, and while someone would come by and temporarily fix it, a day later it would stop working yet again leaving our apartment at a toasty 80 degrees. In addition, because of the older unit in our apartment, our electric bills exceed $130 and the breakdown of our energy bill showed it was because of the air conditioning unit, which was over working itself. My friend who I had referred and lives in the same size apartment as us showed us her bill and it was half of what we paid, despite having the same size apartment and the addition of a washer and dryer. We finally gave up on relying on the apartment complex to fix the air conditioning unit and began relying on portable fans. Yet again, we were disappointed with our choice of this apartment complex.
We also put in a maintenance request for the florescent lights in our kitchen to be changed, and after being changed they worked again for about a week before they stopped again. In addition, the light above our stove and sink haven't worked either for months, but we didn't bother calling about them because it proved to be a failure the last time something was "fixed."
While we appreciate the efforts of the staff, the experience at the apartment was horrendous.
