Reviews

Do not rent here.

Please do not rent here unless you have no other option. We are still current tenants here and we would be more than happy to show you around both inside and outside the apartments. Very old buildings, very low quality, dirty and a lot of problems. We have placed over 10 maintenance orders. The pros, very professional staff, mainly the maintenance people, but they cannot make miracles. At the office, you will find really polite people who do not really care about the tenants and their personal problems, but only the lease contract. We had a very difficult personal situation and we received no help at all. The area is beautiful, but it is full of garbage which is a shame. Good from far, but far from good. Do not hesitate to contact me in case you need to take a look.

nice place

I haven't had any of the problems the other renters are complaining about. I don't doubt that they had a bad experience, but I moved in mid June and everything went smoothly. I didn't have the opportunity to meet the other management, so Landmark is all I know. I stay in a three bedroom town home. It is very specious, it is newly renovated, and I never hear noise from my neighbors. The amenities are wonderful. They have a playroom in the fitness center if you have small children like myself. We feel safe. It is very close to downtown, etc...

Worst management ever

The management is terrible, uncaring, rude, and inept. Today, I witnessed a woman trying to sign her lease and move in (a mistake) and waited outside the office for two hours in the rain. No one was there, even though posted hours cover the entire time she waited. I've experienced too many instances of bad management to be covered in a single review. Do yourself a HUGE favor: check out the many other reasonably priced and much better managed places in the Carrboro-Chapel Hill area.

Pass this one by

Been here almost 3 years. Loved it at first but since Landmark has begun managing it, everything has gone downhill.
Positives: nice setting/location, quiet
Negatives: Landmark Trust & front office unresponsive. No answer or weird vmail picks up and no option to leave msg. Office staff no longer friendly.
"Renovations" with no notice, old appliances, windows leak heat/AC, maintenance can't fix renovations...the list goes on.
Until a new & better company manages this place, pass it by.

Awful management

The new management company is horrible. They're currently doing 'renovations' here and they never complete them the date they say they will and leave a mess in your apartment. They don't respond to emails and when you go to the office to talk with them, they don't help at all but rather nod and dismiss your concerns. I could not get out of there fast enough.

I will never recommend them or lease from Landmark again.

Terrible management

I will NEVER rent here or from any other Landmark Residential property EVER AGAIN! First of all, they have a very inconvenient and inefficient online payment system...each time you have to pay your rent, you have to re-enter all of your billing info, your name, what property you live at, what apartment number, your e-mail,etc. It is a HASSLE! You never know how much your rent bill is because they don't post it online so you're supposed to call them and ask. They gave me a late fee because their website wasn't working and of course, they still made me pay after I submitted it but they didn't care. They also NEVER send e-mails regarding issues...they just post letters on your door and threaten you. They are currently doing construction here and management doesn't know what they are doing...I talked to a contractor today and they said the same thing...the renovation process has been HORRIBLE!!!! It is taking weeks now & the only "upgrades" they have done are paint the cabinets and counter tops and add cheap light fixtures! DO NOT MOVE IN HERE!!!! Landmark Residential properties are NOT worth your time and money...believe me!
PS. Also the electric company is RIDICULOUSLY expensive-DO NOT use Piedmont Electric if you don't have to....

No consideration of privacy

The new managers at Landmark at Chelsea Common are currently renovated occupied units. They initiated this by leaving a flyer on our door at 8:00 on a Friday night, asking us to clear out all of our belongings from our kitchen by Tuesday. Thanks for the heads-up! Anyway, after that fiasco, they contracted out the reno work which has taken over 10 days now. The superintendent of the renovation is extremely responsive and sympathetic, but the apartment management acts like there is absolutely nothing wrong with inconveniencing us for so long. When we've confronted them, they just smile and shrug their shoulders. They treat the people living in their units as part of the property and not as human beings with lives. This was our home and now it's just a construction zone. Don't rent here unless you like surprises and living in debris.

Convenient to so many things

I have lived in these apartments for 3 years. I like that it's on the J bus line and is convenient to many things...UNC, parks, tennis, high school, downtown Carrboro, etc.

There are families living here as well as students. Most of the students here are grad students. There is little noise. We've never had a problem with our neighbors.

The office staff is nice and helpful. Any maintenance issues are taken care of promptly. The property is pet-friendly.

The only complaint that I have is a small one. It's the wooden steps outside that harbor wood bees. I'm told they don't sting and have never been stung, but it's a little unnerving to have to walk up or down the stairs with bees buzzing all around you. Fortunately, it only happens in the spring and lasts for about a month. The apartments do not spray treat for this.
