We have lived here for almost two years, when we first moved in the people upstairs smoked inside (we live in a nonsmoking building) and were extremely loud late into the night. The smoke came into our apartment through the bathroom vents. I have asthma and despise the smell of smoke, hence choosing to live in a nonsmoking building. It took MONTHS for the problem to be resolved and there was no compensation for having to live uncomfortably for months. The cupboards, doors, lighting and table tops are very outdated. Yes there are updated units, however they are much more expensive. I do like the size of our apartment and open layout. The outdoor pool/grill area is great, indoors the hot tub is either extremely hot, or cold and the sauna is often broke. Maintenance is wonderful, they come to fix things right away and do a great job. Outside at night, there is little lighting around the grounds.

The leasing agent came across as very natural. I had a pleasant visit.

Vicksburg apartments does a good job with keeping the premises clean, organizing community events and offering some competitive amenities. However, it could improve a lot in terms of what is included in the rent, enhancing the offering of its amenities through additional common areas, classes and so on. Given the premium in rent, I would certainly point out the trade-offs to anyone asking me about the apartments.

Friendly and competent staff, clean facilities, well cared for grounds, beautiful apartment (I am in the remodeled building).

I already suggested to some friends that they come live here when their lease is up in April. I told them about the indoor pool and sauna, and that the apartments are very nice.

I would recommend

Very expensive, inconsistent rental rates (very different rates for people renting at around the same time), year over year increases (they make it sound like mandatory!), Some of the office staff are nice and helpful

The idea of living in an apartment is that it fosters a sense of community. This place, and the people that work here, see residents as rent checks and not community.

I feel that tighter management is needed, and that they should be more selective as to who they allow to rent here. I would also never live in another building that was NOT smoke-free due to inconsiderate smokers who I currently live around.

I was not advised when I moved in (2013) that my bldg was a smoking bldg although it states on the doors "no smoking" and apparently this applies only to the common area! I am not a smoker and certainly would not have subjected myself to second hand smoke. I addressed this issue in person and via emails stating I have seen smokers on decks in my bldg(4). I never got a response other than "we'll check on that". Last fall I was told my bldg is a smoking bldg and always has been!

I would and have recommended these apartments to everyone I know. I just love it here and in addition to the above, it is on the metro transit line, and within walking distance to the library, grocery store and restaurants.

I like the location in particular. Also like the architectural details that make the apt.unique.

Not satisfied at all for the price we pay.

I would let people know that the office staff is very good and maintenance is very good.

But, that the apartments are very drafty (not a good thing in Minnesota in the winter), the AC may not be adequate depending on which apartment they are in and that the appliances were great for the 90's but if they don't need the proximity to Plymouth Creek Elementary there are likely better options.

The "upgraded" units are very nice, however, for the monthly cost for a three bedroom I could just buy a house.
