I can always hear my neighbors come and go. I know what kind of music they like. I know when they shower or open the closet door. There is a blind turn to get out of the parking lot, where people often walk. I showed them a wall falling apart because of a leak and they painted over it. The air conditioner sounds like a freight train. The stove temperature is wrong. They will give you as little as 10 minutes notice before showing the apartment. The company tried to evict people for joining a union (I believe they backed out because the people threatened to sue). The company lied to me about why they wanted to come into my apartment- in writing. The letters and notices are often threatening and rude. There are cigarette butts all over the grass. Trash is commonly around the landscaping. The carpet is terrible and should have been changed when I moved in. The maintenance people are okay.
