Avoid Hawks Ridge Apartments in Iowa City. The apartment they show you before signing the lease will be NOTHING like the one you will be assigned. Be aware of deception. Needed a short term apartment over summer and dreaded every day of living there. The unit was dirty with a non-functioning smoke detector, a broken window and a cracked sink, none of which were addressed by maintenance. Common areas, hallways, elevator, laundry rooms, trash rooms and stairways were a horrible mess. The building exterior looks nice but once inside it's another story. The staff is rude and mostly made up of students who live there for free and know nothing of customer service nor do they care. The older woman in the office is extremely rude and should be avoided. The amenities offered here are nice to have but not worth the trade off of living in these nasty units. The location is not close to campus and although it is on the bus line to campus keep in mind, the buses only run up to a certain point at night. You have to pay extra to park and there are only a few parking spots for visitors. All in all, not the best choice of apartments in Iowa City. Do your research before signing a lease here.
