The Truth About Vue 21

I used to rent an apartment at this complex back in 2010 when it was still named "Alexan at Briargate" and I had one of the best apartment experiences of my life here. There was great service, beautiful interiors, and seemingly well designed property. I moved out of state for a few years and when I returned back to Colorado Springs, I had all intention to move back here. I soon found out that the name change to "Vue 21" was much more than just a name change. My renting style is to leave other tenants alone. Apartment living is sharing walls with many other people, and as I have rented throughout the years, I have learned to become very lax with noises and things of the sort. It's an impossible thing to expect complete silence when living in an apartment. However, in this complex, this is an expectation. Except no neighbor actually complies with it. I'm not going to complain over some noise when someone is having a small party on a Friday or Saturday night, people have lives. So I won't complain. However, now that I am the only neighbor that has not complained over the noise, the office ASSUMED I was the one making the noise and threatened to end my lease over noise. So now, to "prove" I'm not making the noise, I am constantly listening like a vigilante and at the slightest sound, I am calling security to document the noises so it won't get pinned on me. I am constantly having to fight with wanting to just be left alone and having to constantly call on my neighbors for every little step. The property managers operate on a guilty until proven innocent mentality and it's becoming uncomfortable to want to be in my own apartment. If you enjoy having to constantly monitor your neighbors and every step you make in your own apartment, then this is the place for you. But if you actually want your apartment to feel like your own space to unwind, do not consider this complex!

Looks can be deceiving

At first glance this complex appears to be high end and luxurious, but in reality, the place is everything but. Starting with the pool area: it is lovely and you cannot beat the views, however, large groups of high school students break in daily are unpleasant to say the least. This issue was brought up to a security guard one evening and the guard advised that the issue was out of their hands. It's frustrating when you pay through the roof for rent and can't enjoy the outdoor amenities because people that don't live there are busy enjoying them. Along with the high rent, one would think that you would have access to parking; unfortunately that's not the case. The parking area is tiny and there aren't nearly enough spaces for everyone that lives here. There is some street parking but it's usually covered in glass so it's another lose/lose situation. One of the only ways to secure a parking space would be to rent a garage space, which again is not cheap. Again, with the high cost of the garage rentals, one would think that because you're paying for it, you can do what you'd like with the space (keeping it legal of course) - not the case here. A neighbor of ours is unable to renew his lease because he used his garage as a 'storage area'. The office staff is kind when you sign your lease, but after that all they care about is making a profit. The office claims that they have a great referral program but they will do everything in their power to make sure that you don't qualify it. My lease is done in two moths and I will not be renewing it. I strongly suggest finding another place to live, you'll be much happier.

Apartment Review from an Independent Evaluator

The community was very nice and well maintained. The leasing professional was sold on the community as well as the amenities and it showed based on the pride that she exhibited.

Apartment Review from an Independent Evaluator

It was a very high end looking and feeling community. The rental rates were appropriate for what the apartments and the community provided. The interior and exterior design of the community and apartments was nicely done. The geographical location was well planned and showed the best of Colorado Springs mountain views.

I had a wonderful tour of this community. The leasing professional was fabulous at showing me the community and all it many amenities. She mentioned all the great activities they offered each month. The presentation of the apartment was also very impressive with all the many features and benefits she pointed out. I was totally sold. I really would love to call this community home.

The community is resort like with breath taking views. The interiors of the homes offer only amenities found in quality built homes. From the inside you could easily forget that you live in an apartment.

Personally, I probably would have rented an apartment here purely due to the fact that it was a beautiful property and the features were exactly what I would want and more. It was extremely well maintained and clean. It definitely fit my personal taste, but the leasing agent would not have sold me if the property had not. The rents were fairly high compared to a lot of other communities in the area - a one bedroom is almost $1,000! While the agent seemed nice enough, she did not relate anything during my visit to any of my actual needs, because she did not ask what they were, or really convey a desire to have me live there. Most of the time, I felt I was leading a lot of the conversation and asking questions that she should have been telling me without prompting to keep the conversation going and minimize any dead air.
after reading the previous post, I wanted to share that our experience visiting the leasing office was much different. They made us feel so welcome and took us to 2 different apartments to choose from and I remember feeling like I might have been the pain when I asked to look at the 1st one again. The leasing gal was so understanding and accommodating. We are now residents here and love the welcome we always receive when visiting to clubhouse and leasing office.
Thank you for all you do!
