Apartment Review from an Independent Evaluator

The community was beautifully cared for and tidy. The leasing professional was engaging and helpful.I would highly recommend this community to others.

Apartment Review from an Independent Evaluator

The leasing professional did not provide good customer service, but the apartments and the grounds were nice. The rental rates were reasonable. If you work in the downtown area, the community is perfect for your home.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder

River Place Apartments is a beautiful set of brownstones, apartments, condos and penthouses, located right along the Detroit river downtown Detroit.

The units are under new management now and it appears to be showing. The previous management company (Strohs) seemed to be more people oriented than the current (Riverstone).

While I don't exactly have much evidence, besides anecdotal, there seems to be a bit of gentrification happening. Rent goes up and it has also become more difficult to pay it (only money orders and cashiers checks). The website says one can pay online, but that is a feature they've yet shared with current tenants. Which seems very shady. They also seem to not have a lot of service staff, work orders take time but the handymen are nice. Also if you're not a fan of Comcast you better become one, there is a monopoly on cable service in all their buildings... Unless you live in the penthouses or condo; you can then get satellite.

As for meeting my needs, its located downtown... Which is exactly what I needed. As for the value, rent for an apartment here is more than a mortgage for a home downtown. While harbor town is about the same in terms of pricing, they offer more amenities and a better view.
