STAY AWAY

I moved into this community quickly without checking it out much. I thought it would be a great move because it’s a newer complex in a great area but boy was I wrong. From the beginning of my least (13 months) I was constantly disappointed. First, the neighbor above me had their washer machine overflow, which caused MAJOR flooding in my apartment, which resulted in damage to my possessions and apartment. Every inch of my floor was soaked and my carpet was sloshing. The complex had a carpet cleaner come out which did absolutely no good. The cleaner sprayed a chemical, which he explicitly told me would make my pets and I sick. We had to go stay in a hotel for two nights to let the chemical wear off. When I asked the apartment complex if they would cover the hotel they said they would not. After moving out the apartment complex charged me for damaged carpeting, which was a result of the flooding. On top of that a month after the flooding I entered my apartment to find random objects left behind from the maintenance men who I didn’t even know would be entering my apartment. Then just a few weeks ago while I was in the shower I heard the maintenance men enter my apartment and leave things behind once again. Neither time they left a card saying they had entered my apartment. If I hadn’t see what they left behind or heard them while I was in the shower I never would have known they were there.
The Alexan also promises a 24-hour maintenance guarantee, which has rarely been upheld in my case. While I was living there for 13 months my air conditioner broke three times (November, January, and June). Two of those times I was without air for almost two days (November and June). Now onto the office staff, they are incredibly rude and every time you need something they act as though you are a huge inconvenience to them. When you first go to view apartments or are moving in they are the most helpful people in the world then once you’re moved in you’re nothing to them. They rarely answer the phone, when you show up at the office no one is at their desk so you have to wait 15+ minuets for them to come out from the back, and once you do finally get someone they are rude, quick, and careless. Inside the actual apartments it’s beautiful and all seems wonderful until you try to sleep at night. You can hear everything. By everything I mean talking, TV’s, sneezing, phones ringing and vibrating, and toilets flushing. I don’t mean that you can just faintly hear it; I mean it sounds like you’re in the same room as the noise.
Lastly, when you move out your deposit does not matter. They will keep your entire deposit then charge you more on top of it. My entire bill for “damages” was $789 but they so “kindly” applied my deposit to it ended up being $589. It doesn’t matter if you cleaned the apartment from head to toe they will charge you for it and it will be outrageous prices. I forgot to remove a single bag of garbage and I was charged a 50-dollar fee. That’s equal to TWO MONTHS of daily waste removal services! I’ve live in multiple apartment complexes and I’ve always gotten my deposit back so for me to be charged extra on top of my deposit is outrageous. When I called to speak to the manager about the charges it took a week to get a hold of her then she wouldn’t listen to anything I said and continuously made threats. I wouldn’t recommend my worst enemy to live in this place. Do not be fooled by the updated interior and new construction because you will be disappointed by everything else.
